If you're new to the realm of Radiology, then you're new to a rapidly growing field, rich in promising career opportunities. As the world's population grows and ages, the demand for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic technology is growing quickly - and consequently, the need for talented people is growing with it.

It is an exciting time. Over the last three decades, medical imaging has advanced beyond film-based x-rays to sophisticated computerized imaging techniques. Even the last decade has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the development of new techniques in computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, digital radiography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These new techniques have revolutionized diagnostic radiology, providing new information about the interior of the human body that has never before been available. Applications and innovations in radiological imaging are not abating but are in fact accelerating -- and therefore advances in image production and visualization will continue.

To be involved in the crucial diagnosis and treatment of injury and disease is extremely gratifying and worthwhile. Just imagine --- you could help patients detect and treat all types of cancer; or you could be responsible for the diagnosis and intervention of brain tumors and strokes. The possibilities are boundless --- and the prospects, exciting. Our Department of Radiology offers a broad range of programs from which you can choose. As part of Johns Hopkins Medicine, a world-class institution, not only do we stay on top of the latest technology and medical advances, but we initiate them too.
